LOST Season Finale - Why does Season 3 suck so bad? tommyblank, 13:14h
The producers keep pretending that everything will get better, but the show has lost speed. And we get even more sub-plots? Can't we stick to the same old questions? What about the cable in the water? Who were these people in that arctic shelter? Were "The Others" really on the island before the Dharma Initiative? When are they finally gonna kill Jack? Anyway, one more to go before the show goes off the air for three months. Below is this weeks video-podcast which gives you a glimpse of what seems to tie the various plot-elements so far: random encounters and that theory about being related to every one else on earth via no more than six other people. Wikipedia: Six degrees of separation : "Six degrees of separation is the hypothesis that anyone on Earth can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances with no more than five intermediaries." Don't know. I think it's lame. I'd rather like to see the zombie-season with an undead Mr. Eko or some shit like that. LOST - Offical ABC LOST Video Podcast (4th Nov) - (incl. 2 minutes of tonights episode!) Another snippet from episode 6 ("I do") starring Sayid, Desmond and John Locke.

TV: Torchwood -stern-, 18:10h
This all-new show is already a spin-off of the all-new 2006 mega-mega-version of good old "Dr. Who". It looks like a very british sort of X-Files meets Buffy and whatever else is popular. Worth a try! Check Wikipedia! Trailer: Youtube: Torchwood Preview

Tuesdays in November The note got lost... and now I've found it again in the one place I hadn't looked for it: my film file! Sometimes being organized creates chaos... First Tuesday in November, 7.th, that is, i.e. tomorrow we will finally have (how many attempts have we made so far?) "Germany, Year Zero", 1949 that classic Italian Neorealism film by Roberto Rossellini. As extension of the Italian season could also be seen La Commare secca, 1962, by Bernardo Bertolucci. Tuesday, 14. November is going to be a special repeat/surprise film - for more details ask in the bookshop. Currently being deeply emersed in concentrated thinking things over - considering a season of more recent British films, say the last 10 years, we would welcome suggestions from all interested: remember, this is the people's filmclub and those who watch the movies, decide about the show! We are also interested in Australian film - what's on, what's good, what would you like to see? Please join the heated debate... and see you Tuesdays at 20.00h. Take care everybody, amanda I

Lost in Another Country tommyblank, 11:54h
"The Urban Travel Guide" is writing nice things about the bookshop: "Expat bookstores often hover between a comforting taste of home and an irritating nexus of smug trustafarians. Paris's Shakespeare and Company is full of bearded pretentious Americans reenacting Hemingway sans talent. Happily, Berlin's Another Country, a large English-language bookstore, doesn't fall into the muck of a 1,000 poseurs." More at Gridskipper

On the Edge of Blade Runner (Video) -stern-, 16:03h
This is the rare UK Channel 4 documentary about Blade Runner, giving insights into it's history with interviews of Ridley Scott, the writers and nearly all the cast. There is also a tour of some locations, most notably the Bradbury Building and the Warner Brothers backlot that was the LA 2019 streets, which look very different from Ridley Scott's dark version.

Tuesday: Terry Gilliam - The forgotten films tommyblank, 17:03h
Maybe Sean can tell us a bit about working with Mr. Gilliam on The Past People of Potsdamer Platz before we have a look at this fine mess: Lost in La Mancha: Fulton and Pepe's 2000 documentary captures Terry Gilliam's attempt to get The Man Who Killed Don Quixote off the ground. Back injuries, freakish storms, and more zoom in to sabotage the project (which has never been resurrected). Trailer below... And then there is Tideland: "After her mother dies from a heroin overdose, Jeliza-Rose is taken from the big city to a rural farmhouse by her father. As she tries to settle into a new life in a house her father had purchased for his now-deceased mother, Jeliza-Rose's attempts to deal with what's happened result in increasingly odd behavior, as she begins to communicate mainly with her bodiless Barbie doll heads and Dell, a neighborhood woman who always wears a beekeeper's veil." Trailer below...
