TRAVEL:

in search of stories by women travelers

A new collection of women's travel writing is in search of true stories from women who have thrown off the cloak of expectations and chosen to travel solo and/or with other women. If you have a personal story, which deals with stepping out of your comfort zone and embarking on your own adventure, we want to hear from you!

The three women who are editing the collection are interested in stories that show how women travelers overcame risks, fears, stereotypes, or sacrifices involved with travel. Essays from both seasoned and first time travelers, whether across your country or around the world, are welcome.

For submission requirements, additional information and to download a flyer, please see our website at: www.humboldt.edu

Since a lot of new members have joined the "Lost Discussion Group Berlin", the group meetings will continue on Jan., the 30th and Feb. the 1st already to be up to date in time. So, stop whining, The Others are here already and they've been here for quite a while!

Here's an appetizer that some internet-dude made. Spoiler-alert! It includes a moment from the great opening-sequence of Season 3.

Friday: The Annual Cold War Special

There will be dinner, a selection of books on the coffee table and we may even turn the heat on. Ok, the weather feels like spring or something, but be not mistaken, as my favourite president would say, the cold will come! So, get one of those russian hats at Checkpoint Charlie, take an U-Bahn and get your ass down here to meet all the other secret agents of Another Country.

By the way, Robert de Niro directed a movie about the CIA called "The Good Shepherd".... That great actress Angelina Jolie is in it!

Maybe you wanna check it out on the big screen.

MOVIES:

Mein Führer - Die wirklich wahrste Wahrheit über Adolf Hitler

(lit. My Führer - The Truly Truest Truth About Adolf Hitler).

"Dani Levi's film is a fictive look at the week between Christmas and New Year's in 1944-45, when it started to dawn on Hitler he was losing the war. Hitler (played by Helge Schneider) is in a severe state of depression, though he is scheduled to deliver a rousing speech to the nation on New Year's Day. Goebbels (Sylvester Groth) then decides that what the Führer needs in order to deliver a speech that inspires the nation is some help from his former theatre teacher and namesake Adolf Israel Grünbaum -- a Jew (played by Ulrich Mühe, EFA Best Actor winner for his role as a Stasi officer in Das Leben der Anderen/The Lives of Others)."
