The Extra Room Launch party -stern-, 14:39h
The Extra Room is a Berlin-based English language print (maga)zine born of late night walks and Berlin's Landwehrkanal. Or to tweak that equation, it was c-sectioned at the crux of creativity and collaboration. The bastard fruit of the union of two minds, those of editors Mara Goldwyn and Adam Collingsworth, the project came to life in the summer of 2007. The first issue's release will be on February 29th, 2008. the extra room, on the extra day. You are invited to the launch party at the Ambulatorium/RAW Tempel in Berlin-Friedrichshain, where there will be music, drink, live art n' culture --- and your chance to get your hands on a copy. Jowe Head - Live in Berlin -stern-, 21:03h
("Pacifiers" by Jowe Head)
Location: Trödler, Dresdenerstr. 123, Berlin (U8-Kottbusser Tor, the little street where the Babylon Cinema and Möbel Olfe is!) On Friday, February 22, 9:00 PM Jowe Head will be supported by the Incredible Shitty Listener plus the sensational Sister Chain & Brother John. On Saturday, February 23, 9:00 PM Mr. Head will be supported by Shitty Listener and Kristof Schreuf (Ex-Kollossale Jugend, legendary pioneers of what is now referred to as “Kettcar, Tomte, Tocotronic & Co.” Viele Hamburger Schulen sind nach ihm benannt!) INFO: Mister Jowe Head is an artist and a musician from the Midlands of England, now living in east London. Moving from his home town of Solihull, he started his Fine Art training in Manchester in 1976. At the same time he was beginning his musical career with various school-friends, a project that came to be known as Swell Maps. This group emerged in the late 1970s, and are now seen as legendary pioneers of what is now referred to as the “Alternative rock” scene; they set up their own record label and mixed punk rock with experimental psychedelic sounds. Swell Maps released four singles and two albums in a brief but dramatic career that saw them topping the UK independent charts. When they broke up, Jowe joined Television Personalities who he met as label-mates at Rough Trade Records. Ten years with the TVPs saw Jowe touring with them around Europe regularly, and travelling to Japan and the USA. At the same time, Jowe was constantly evolving his own visual aesthetic and personal imagery. As well as many solo and group exhibitions in the UK, he has helped to run a community art centre in east London and he also teaches in his neighbourhood. As well as painting murals and designing posters, LP and CD covers, Jowe makes collages, sculpture and clocks using recycled junk and he is also an accomplished print-maker. Jowe continues to make music and has a new band called Angel Racing Food. He is also a solo performer and recording artist. He continues to develop his eccentric artistic vision and exhibits his art-work internationally. Links: www.myspace.com/jowehead www.myspace.com/angelracingfood

The Boggle Affair continues tommyblank, 15:06h
Unfortunately we were somewhat in assuming that we'd be the headquarters of The Boggle World Cup. After a surprise visit from the organizing committee, our facilities were deemed to fall short of the required standard, i.e. we had no Boggle set. Investigations into the disappearance continue. The first theory was that our would be competitors at "Grill Royale" had attempted to sabotage us to make their own bid for staging the cup seem more credible. Sadly a second hypothesis seems to be more gaining ground. According to this a double dyed bastard known as Dr. Dr. B. had staged the theft in order to gain the kudos of it's return and thus help maintain his cover. Naturally, not staging this event means considerable economic loss, not to mention the human cost in missing out on the urban regeneration effect. Millions have been spent on the Markthalle in preparation for a huge influx of bogglers which will now not happen. Our lawyers are ready to act the moment that the criminal investigation is over.

twilight on a corner of the ku’damm in february steven augustine, 10:01h
the grey walls of the hinterhof stained with the previous century’s rain under the drained eye of february’s glaucous light, so like an asylum: the courtyard’s box of underinterpenetrated lives in this vast stone machine of flatblock, drinking a river each day, flushing rich waste the other way, sempiternal, thick- walled, cough-muffling, papered in little deaths, breaths, sweats, farts, aerosolized desiderata smelling of cooked cabbage from the furtive biomass of neighbors he has never once heard laughing or singing. dante rings an old friend, dresses to meet him on a corner of the ku’damm he hasn’t seen in years. everything, he thinks, disappears. he never knew what or why his mother meant in all her litanies of vague complaint, staring over his milkblonde head as she ironed-on patches or stirred fatty ersatzes into cheap-n-cheerful soups or wiped the kitchen window of their lukewarm semidetached in Hounslow with never-read newspapers existing only to chronicle America’s rough usage of the world, but now he grasps her point was only ever to make herself heard if solely by him, dante, her son, at seven, his reason to exist as though by invitation. she seemed to inhabit a fenced sanitarium at the gate of which they could meet but never embrace. mother, what are you so sad about? so crushed beneath? so helpless at never-winning? her newspaper-lined casket still holds the cold broach of her engima-grinning. the friend, a standard thirty minutes late mimes apologies from across the street, sackladen shoppers watching the Gay Ausländers meet with bemused irritation, mocked to every last light of their city’s radiance .
