This thursday: Nazi Pop Twins (Documentary, 60 Min.) tommyblank, 15:11h
Film starts at 9 p.m. This week we have this brilliant documentary produced by Channel 4 : "Nazi Pop Twins is a one-off, one hour documentary where filmmaker James Quinn investigates the controversial American pop band Prussian Blue, whose teenage twin girl stars have made headlines across the world with their white nationalist music and as poster girls of neo-Nazism. (...) Filmed over a year, Nazi Pop Twins follows James as he is invited into the home of the Gaede family where he aims to discover the secrets of the twin's notoriety and the motivation behind their controversial music. As the family allow James and the cameras into their lives, he discovers some disturbing truths beneath the happy family image that determined mother/manager April likes to project. Is she, in fact, just using Lamb and Lynx as a mouthpiece for her own extremist views?"

Thursday, the 5th: "On the Air" (David Lynch, 1992) tommyblank, 13:50h
We're gonna show all 7 episodes (they're 30 minutes each) and we will start at 9 p.m. Wikipedia: "On The Air (1992) was an ABC sitcom created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. In the USA only three episodes were aired, although seven were filmed; In the Netherlands all 7 were aired by VPRO." Many of the cast and crew from Twin Peaks return! Lynchnet:"The year is 1957. A new program entitled "The Lester Guy Show" is debuting on the Zoblotnick Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC). Most of the cast is nuts, the crew is incompetent and everything that could go wrong always does. Of course, this makes the show a hit. While mixing the sound for an episode of the second season of Twin Peaks, Lynch was hit with a sudden inspiration. "It just came into my head, the idea of people trying to do something successful and having it all go wrong." Following the initial success of Twin Peaks, David Lynch and Mark Frost were hot properties in Television. When they approached ABC with the idea for "On the Air," the network was eager to take them up on the offer. The show itself was a half-hour absurdist comedy featuring many of the cast and crew from Twin Peaks. The pilot tested very well, and six more episodes were ordered. However, by the time it came to scheduling the On the Air, things with Twin Peaks had already fallen apart, and the network was no longer eager to work with Lynch. " Excerpt (The Mr. Peanuts-song)

Tonight: "Oh! What a Lovely War" (1969) -stern-, 16:34h
"A movie about the First World War based on a stage musical of the same name, portraying the "Game of War" and focusing mainly on the members of one family (last name Smith) who go off to war. Much of the action in the movie revolves around the words of the marching songs of the soldiers, and many scenes portray some of the more famous (and infamous) incidents of the war, including the assassination of Duke Ferdinand, the Christmas meeting between British and German soldiers in no-mans-land, and the wiping out by their own side of a force of Irish soldiers newly arrived at the front, after successfully capturing a ridge that had been contested for some time. Friday: A freaky Double Feature tommyblank, 19:37h
Freaked aka. Hideous Mutant Freekz (1993) (86 Minutes! Not that 80 minutes version from the US!) "What happens when you get a bunch of hipsters too weird for their own good in a room together and ask them to come up with something funny" -Rottentomatoes.com A forgotten gem with an exclusive "not available on any record" soundtrack by Henry Rollins, the Butthole Surfers and their friends. It's got Mr. T as the bearded lady, Keanu Reeves as Ortiz the Dogboy, Brooke Shields, Dennis Quaid, Morgan Fairchild, an ugly little troll and no Winona Ryder! This was supposed to be sort of a "Rocky Horror" for the Nirvana-kids, but then Alex Winter and the Butthole Surfers got a little carried away. They had to cut out the mutant who could ejaculate the word satan in the snow and a couple of other things. It still turned out pretty radical. Rastafari-eyeball-bodyguards and all that... "Freaked" never came out until someone put it out on dvd a few years ago. I got a personal press-copy from Mr. T himself at the Frankfurt book fair in 1993, but that's a different story and you may ask me after the movie.... More: IMDB Plus Freaks (1932, 64 minutes) Directed by Tod Browning. Also Known as, "Forbidden Love", "The Monster Show", "Nature's Mistakes" You can also watch it online here.
