INFO: Another Country is an English Language Second Hand Bookshop, which is mostly used as a library. We have about twenty thousand books that you can buy or borrow. You simply pay the price of a book, which you get back, minus a 1,50 Euro charge, should you choose to return it.
Another Country is also a club which hosts readings, cultural events, social evenings, filmnights and many other things.

Penguin's Berlin Guide: "You'll find Another Country not far from western Kreuzberg's Bergmanstraße. It's more than just a second-hand English bookstore though: they have around 20,000 used books which are for sale, but if you find you're running out of shelf space they'll take your purchases back and refund the purchase price - minus a €1.50 fee per book. Almost a sort of library, and with some nice chairs to sit and browse in.

Reading isn't the only activity on the menu: Another Country runs all kind of events, including an English film club, a TV night and a dinner night. Check out the (slightly chaotic-looking) blog, particularly the events section for current information."

The Bookshop will have normal hours on Thursday, with an 8'oclock closing (there will be No TV Night, Join us next week to catch up on Lost and South Park.) FRIDAY the bookshop will be closed during the day with the doors opening around 6 o'clock for normal Friday night.

As a service to the ignorant and the lame i am offering here the 10 Bad reasons for entering the film room on a Friday night while a film is running, according to level of annoyance (all of this has actually happened!!!)

  1. To check out the last 2 minutes of the film.
  2. To return a lighter to someone sitting inside.
  3. To tell a friend: 'ok, i am going now' (they'll realize when they come out!!!)
  4. To distribute flyers for an exhibition
  5. to hover by the door and breath heavily
  6. to hover by the door, full stop. (you wanna watch - get a seat!)
  7. to enlighten the audience about interesting cinematographic aspects that might have escaped them.
  8. To inform the audience that the film actually sucks
  9. To sit down and roll a cigarette from a very noisy tobacco pack
  10. to pull (unless you do it very quietly, no chit chat...)

and here are the good reasons:

  1. coming back from the loo.
  2. informing us that there is food on the table but it's in danger of being eaten by bicurious locusts
  3. someone's parents have died and want to talk to them.

can anyone think of more good reasons to interrupt ME while I AM WATCHING THE FILM AND TRYING TO CONCENTRATE; HAAA???? because i can't. merci and mercy
