Metropolis on DVD kdhm, 06:42h
From the Digital Bits We've just heard back from our friends over at Kino International. The good news is that they have officially confirmed that the newly-discovered footage from Fritz Lang's original version of Metropolis (which we mentioned yesterday) WILL be a part of the forthcoming special edition Blu-ray Disc release in 2009. What's more, the new special edition will be released on standard DVD format as well on the same day. Watch for more details on this sure-to-be-amazing release in the weeks and months ahead. We think that's just about the best news we could close out the week with, don't you?

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button tommyblank, 19:50h
Wanna have a look at the first trailer? Ok, it's spanish, but they're not talking, ok? You know, it's by David Fincher (he's banned from the bookshop because of that thing with Tom.) and it looks like he had sex with the early Tim Burton (who is still welcome at the bookshop while the new, the remade and the all-new Tim Burtons are still banned.) And it's got Brad Pitt (one of our favourite regulars. He always comes to the bookshop when he's in Berlin because of the Krusovice) and Kate Blanchett (she's from Australia and her friends are pretty strong and that's why I wont tell you some amusing anecdotes from her youth...). And it's based on a story by F. Scott Fitzgerald (who used to be a favourite customer of the bookshop back in the old days when Alan still had a moustache) and you can read the story over here!
