Kodwo Eshun!
Not into New Wave SF then?! Or just Priest? Anyway, it was also an excuse to post something with Kodwo Eshun on film! I found a bit about Priest/youthsploitation stuff on Stewart Home's site in an interview with Laurence James. By coincidence there's an amusing book review of 'High Art Lite' by Julian Stallabrass along the side of the page in which Homes makes comments like:
"Having set out to attack commodity culture, Stallabrass would have made a more effective critique if he'd stepped back from the art world. His academic rigour is undermined by the weakness of his social thinking and a lack of interest in popular culture. Nevertheless, Stallabrass pisses over John Seabrook's Nobrow, which reads like a cross between Dick Hebdige's Hiding In The Light and Joan Shelley Rubin's The Making Of Middle Brow Culture..." Stallabrass will be my phd supervisor in October! www.stewarthomesociety.org ... link ... Comment
